(So Others May Eat)

San Miguel´s elderly eating hot meals provided to them through S.O.M.E.

In 1989, my parents Joe and Antonette Lim founded a family charity in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, called So Others May Eat (S.O.M.E).

Every Wednesday, we host a feeding program for the elderly poor at the courtyard of “La Parroquia” at the main downtown church.

Over 400,000 meals have been distributed to the community, and my parents were nominated for "CNN Heroes of the Year" in 2010.

When my mother passed away in 2016, my youngest sister Dr. Grace Lim continued our program alongside my father and her husband Dr. Francisco Melendez. S.O.M.E. is a family charity and tradition my mother brought from our native country, the Philippines. The remaining three daughters (Liz, Marilyn and Leilani) who live in the United States, contribute financially to this initiative.

On behalf of S.O.M.E. and the Lim Family, I would like to express our deepest appreciation to the volunteers and donors who have helped us continue this feeding program every Wednesday for the past 29 years.

I am very excited to announce that we have finally launched a Facebook page! I invite you to like and share So Others May Eat for the latest news on upcoming events. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities in making a difference and paying it forward, or virtually join us in weekly prayer.

I promise you, it is a spiritually uplifting life-changing experience.

God bless.
