A Grassroots Beginning
Founding members Eva Eliscu, Rhonda Lerner, Ruth Milikin and Kirsten West, four ladies from four different places in the world met at La Biblioteca in 2015 during Eva's lecture on the History of the Dining Table. During an afternoon coffee at Santa Ana Cafe, the idea of a Food and Film festival was born. With a shared interest in food, film and involvements in various business backgrounds, they decided to create a fundraising project for La Biblioteca.
The first ever Food in Film Festival fundraiser was held in 2016; though there were no plans to create a yearly festival, the positive reception from attendees propelled the evolution of the Food In Film Festival (FIFF) into yearly festival currently on its fourth year.
FIFF moved to Centro Cultural Ignacio Ramirez El Nigromante (Bellas Artes) in 2017, in partnership with DIFF to refurbish a school kitchen in a nearby San Miguel community. In 2018-19 we partnered with S.O.M.E. In 2020 we are excited to support Casa Hogar and their "Crack an egg for Education" initiative presented by Corazon Valiente.
For 2020, Patricia Boesen and Lars Boesen joined Eva Eliscu and Rhonda Lerner and managed the web site, social media and helped select the movies and recruit local speakers.
